Diversity

The diversity of our food forest products is great, and so is the quality. In 2018 the experiment of combining the perennial food forest system with annual vegetable polycultures was done and freshly harvested vegetables were sold every Saturday on the land. The veggies were of great taste and quality, and due to the thick layer of mulch they needed much less irrigation and care, even during the severe drought, compared with similar plants outside the food forest. We stopped occasional irrigation in 2020 despite the severe drought that year. In 2022 the vegetation as a whole survived quite easily and didn’t seem to suffer a lot from the tremendously severe summer heat. In the following years more and more elements of the food forest will start yielding great amounts of diverse and delicious human food.
